Welcome to Fairfax, Minnesota
Welcome to the City of Fairfax website. The mission of the City of Fairfax is to provide a high level of responsible and efficient public services that support the health and well-being of the citizens of Fairfax. We are committed to making sure we have the resources and capability to deliver on our goals and in performance of our mission.
Our city website is intended to provide you with a fast, efficient means of accessing information and services provided to the public by the City. We hope you find the website efficient and user-friendly.
Our community of Fairfax is a blend of rural agricultural and small town living lifestyle. We offer a quality lifestyle and a great variety of businesses and services that you would expect to find in a larger community. In other words, we're a "Little Big Town." Fairfax is located in the southeasterly corner of Renville County. Renville County is the heart of agriculture and boasts the highest production in corn and soybeans in the State of Minnesota.
Besides the commonly known municipal services, Fairfax owns its own electric and natural gas systems and ambulance service. Fairfax has a beautiful library and is part of the Pioneerland Regional Library System. Currently Fairfax is working jointly with ten cities and Renville County to build a fiber to the home network to every home and business in the area. The project will bring world class internet connections, crystal clear cable television service, and enhanced phone services to everyone in the project area. Our residential areas are well kept, neat, and clean. The park system offers picnic shelters, municipal swimming pool, playgrounds, baseball field and grandstand complex, basketball courts, softball diamonds, and an 8.1 mile non-motorized recreational trail that connects Fairfax with Historic Fort Ridgely State Park located along the Minnesota River Valley.
